The internal structure of current transformers mainly includes the following parts:
Iron core. The iron core is the core component of a current transformer, which supports the primary winding and secondary winding, and has magnetic conductivity, reducing magnetic resistance.
Primary winding. A primary winding is a part of a power line that is connected in series and carries the current to be measured. The current flowing through the primary winding generates alternating magnetic flux.
Secondary winding. The secondary winding is a part with a large number of turns, which induces a secondary current proportional to the primary winding and supplies it to measuring instruments, relay protection, and automatic devices.
Shell . The shell is usually used to protect the insulation layer of the primary and secondary windings, preventing external electromagnetic interference and internal electromagnetic wave radiation.
Shielding cylinder. The shielding cylinder is used to shield the impact of external electromagnetic waves on internal circuits and reduce the outward radiation of internal electromagnetic waves.
Explosion proof disc device. The explosion-proof disc device includes bursting discs and clamps, which are used to release pressure when the internal pressure of the equipment is too high, protecting equipment safety.
Sleeves and terminal boxes. The sleeve is used for the interface between sulfur hexafluoride gas and air, and the terminal box is used to connect the secondary winding to external equipment.
The working principle of current transformers is based on the basic principle of transformers, which is the law of electromagnetic induction. The magnetic flux generated by the current in the primary winding is connected to the secondary winding, thereby inducing the corresponding secondary current. This design allows current transformers to convert high currents into low currents, making it easier to measure and control.
